THE GLASGOW MARKET.

Messrs John H'Nairn and 00. report under elate January 31 :— Butter.—During the past 14 days the demand has been quiet until this week, when, on account of the very severe weather and Danish being now at a very low price, the demand has improved, and tho market has been well cleared. We have slso to report an improved demand for colonial at somewhat better prices. Altogether, the outlook is more healthy than it has been for the laat throe or four weeks.

Cheese.—Market is still quiet, with not much business passing; but altogether there ie an under current of strength, and we expect, with February, to see a much larger business passing. We have always found January a dull month ior cheese, buyers working on their stocks bought before Christmas. . Scotch choice cheese still remain scarce, more especially Dtmlop shapes; but medium Cheddars are Etill in large supply, and are oiferinK at irregular prices. Medium Dunlops are better on account of scarcity. Wo have now being delivered to us large shipments of colonial, the quality of which is up to the usual high standard, and for which we are realising 50s and 51s—satisfactory prices aa against other U.K. markets.
