The manner in which Captain Grant handled his vessel, the Takapuna, when she arrived at the wharf (says the New Zealand Times) was the j theme of general praise. He was signalled to the inner tee, but just in front of the berth he was confronted with the diedge, which was working close to the end of the tee. Captain Grant, nothing daunted, stesuned the Takapuna direct to her place, and within the vessel's own length backed her up to the wharf in a very brief Bpace of time. The wharf was lined with spectators, and competent judges declared that no other vessel in the New Zealand waters could be manipulated so cleverly. Ciptain Grant received many compliments upon hid display of seamanship. ______________
