SHEEP RETURNS.
The annual sheep rotarns have just been completed by the Stock department, and thuy show an increase of 850,460 stieap within tho year euded April 30 last. The fallowing are the particulars for tho six stock districts of ths colony:—
Auckland—6sß,29s s'aeup, increase 1325; number of ov/nera 2836, increase 118; dheep rate £853, increaee £1.
Napier—4,2Bo,9B6 aheap, ipcrease 175,300; number of owners 3565, increase 133; B'ueep rate £4207, increase £177.
Wellington (West Caa-it)—4,024,071 sheep, increase 303,357; tiumb&r of owners 3505, increase 244 ; sheep rate £4024, increase £306.
Totals for North 1a1aad—9,169,352 sheep, increase 485,991; number of owners 7220, increase 495 ; sheep rate £9169. increase £"rS4.
Mstrlborougii-Neleon—Bß7,sß2 sheep, increase 52,4-22; nurabar of owners 1389, increase 57 ; sheep rats £888, increase £53. Csnterbury-Kaikoura — 5,74-4,668 aheep, increase 259,687 ; number of owners 3671, increase 312; sheep rate £5745, iucreasa £230. 0t&g0—4,429,227 sheep, increase 54,380; number of ownera 3557, increase 194; sheep rato £4429, increase £54.
Totals for South 151and—11,061,477 slieep, increase 366,469; nuwbsr oi: owiwrs C 617, increase 563 ; sheep rate £11,002, increase £367.
Totals for the c010ny—20,230,829 sheep, increase 850,460; uusaber c£ owners 15,837, increase 1058; sbegp rate £20,231, increase £851.
The detailed statistics for tho several connties show sa increase of sheep in 49 counties, and a decrease in 23 counties. Those which show the largest increases are — Ororua (Wellington) 99,698, Waitaki 85,412, Geraldina 76,212, Cook 64,856, North Wairara-pn 53,563, Ashliiuton 53,115. The heaviest decreases are—Viuceni 23,825, Cheviot 15,230, WhakaUae (Auckland) 11,083, Clutha 8838, Tarau:tki 3791, Xdieri 8277.
