FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

The half-yeariy meeting of the Unity Lodge, No. 16, 1.0.0. F., was held at the lodge room, Oddfellows' Hall, Cargill road, on Friday, the 21st. There was an unusually large attendance of members present. N.G. Bro. A. Austin presided. The election of officers for the ensuing six mouths resulted as follows :—N.G., Bro. J. H. Hinton; V G . Bro. Bro. C. Boelke (reelected); secretary, P.G. Bro. F. A. Him cock (reelected). The lodge accorded to Bro. Dr Fulton a unanimous vote of confidence as the medical attendant. Circulars were read from the secretaries of the Federated Seamen's Union and the Union Company's Benefit Society re private benefit societies. Discussion was deferred for a few weeks. The secretary's report for the half-year showed a large increase both in membership and funds. Two candidates wr.re admitted to membership. The usaal toasts were duly honoured. V.G. Bro. J. A. The half-yearly meeting of the Antidote Division Sons and Daughters of Temperance was held in the Choral Hall on Thursday evening, Bro. E. T. Clarke presiding. The business sheet to come before the Grand Division in January was discussed, and it was decided to leave it in the hands of the lodge representatives.
