Corinna. who has been studying at the Trinity House Navigation and Steam Schools, Wellington on Thursday last passed his examination for a certificate of competer.ce as "master ordinary" in the mercantile marine. The s.s. Talune, from Sydney, via Wellington and Lyttelton, arrived alongside the Bowen pier at 7 a.m. on Saturday. She left Sydney at 2 p.m. oa the 15th inst.; cleared the heads at 2.40 p.m., breasted Cape Farewell at 8 a.m. on the 19th, and Stephen's Island at noon, arriving at Wellington Bl 7p m same day; sailed again at 5 p.m. on the 20th, reached Lyttelton at 8 a.m. on the 21st, pushed on again at 3.30 p.m. same day, arriving B3 above, having experienced variable winds throughout the passage.
