The consecration of Dr Wallis, the new Bishop of Wellington, will take place on January 25.

As is their usual custom prior to Christmas and New Year, the New Zealand Clothing Factory, Octagon, hare a magnificent display of men's ready-made suits at very low prices, ranging from 27s 6d to 52s 6d; youths' sm suits, 22s to 355; boys' knicker salts, 8s 6d to 15s 6d. These goods have not been made from low-elasa tweeds with the object of attracting attention by their cheapness, but from real good colonial tweeds. All the garments are manufactured in their own factory, Dnwliug street, thus all middleman's profits are avoided, which means a saving of six shillings in the pound to all purchasers. Mr Wakelin, of Chriocchurcb, is reported to have put up » record with tha Webley-Mnrtini ride by scoring 101, at 500, 600, and 700 yards, out of a possible 105, his range totals being respectively 3^-, 33, 34-. Tain is said to ba the world's record for those ranges, the previous best score beiag 100, made in 1890 by Lieutenant J. H. Bales, of Victoria. Mr Wakelin counted in sighters at each range, thus firing only 21 shots in all. A 6ft by 6fS target was used at all the ranges. His score of 34- afc 700 is also believed to be the colonial record.

INTERESTING DISCOVERY.

The American Government: has iustructea a noted analyst to examine aud report upon certain mineral springs, w,hioh have been recently discovered to have sn extraordinary curative effect in cages of rheumatism and other complaints.
