SALE OF STORE AND DAIRY CATTLE AT BURNSIDE.

I Messrs Wright, Stepiiensok. and Co. report |as follows:—We held our third sale for this i : eason at the Eurnside yards on Tuesday, 18th ■ inst., when there was a moderate entry of stock, j 217 head of one class and another bcinjr yarded. The attendance of buyers was small compared ! with that at the two earlier sales this year, and in | consequence bidding—exespt in the case of young cattle and first-class dairy coy.a close to calving— was very slack, and prices were lower by, say, 10s per hes.d. The chief causes of this decline in the value of grown eafctl^ were, doubtless, first, tho fact that the larger graziern had supplied their wants for the rciuen, and secondly, that values for fat cattle have depreciated during; the last fern' weeks to the extent of from 2s fid to Si ?er 3001b. Vendors, hov.^ver, cheerfully accepted the posifeu, aud with the exception of 21 head, the whole of the cattle yarded changed hands at, on the whole, verj' satisfactory prices, as follows ' —Green bullocks in forward condition, three and four years old, brought from £X> 10a to £(j Ins ; two-year-old steers brought from £3 to i! 4 10a; yearlings, from 29s to 4Ss; forwardconditiouad cowa, three years old, brought from Mto £o sa; do, in low condition, from £2 Ids to £'i 7fi fid; dairy cows, well-bred and young, just ! calved or at the dropping, from £5 to £7 15s.
