MAKING CRIME.
TO THS BDITOB. Sib, —The above is a term commonly used in the ranks of the English Army, and also refers to tha attempt made to convict the publican Glossop. The young men and boys served with beer and port wine on that occasion have never been served before or since. The fact is Glossop in tho past has successfully run two elections in the North-East Valley against the Prohibition party's so-called interest. Glossop also attempted about 10 months ago to form a club in the North-Bast Valley Public Hall Company's property, based on the system of the Manchester Athenraum, with a librery, gymnasium, dramatic society, &c, &c, when the Prohibition party organised a most determined opposition to his efforts. The boys of North-Bast Valley then started a club, and rented a house in Selwyn, and have been tenants there for some months. In my opinion, the police have been made a "cat's paw "of by certain people who wish to gain a point before the licensing committee sit at Port Chalmers.—l am, &c, June*. Wheels Within Wheeis.
