Inspector Hickson, owing to the nature of tho Nativo dispute at Paeroa, Thames, has chartered the s'.eamer Paeroa and left this avening for Paeroa with 16 police and 20 men of the Permanent Artillery under Lieutenant Hume. The party are all armed. It is understood that the Thames polico md Mc Kenny, stipendiary magistrats, leave the Thames at daylight to-morrow to join them.
His Excellency the Governor aud suite leave for Kaipara on Monday morning to Bee the district and have a week's shooting in company with the Hon. B. Mitchelson.

It i 3 understood that Mr Gihutb, M.B C.V.S., ha 3 resigned his position as Government veterinary surgeon. The commissioners wbo have been inquiring into the complaints made by Mr Charlton, veterinary surgeon, concluded its sitting today. The commission will report to the Government. J. M. Wilson, a cabman, gob six months' hard labour to-day for wife-beating. Ha was [ only married in February, and, according to I his wife, had bfgun ill-using her almost at once to such an extent that har life was iv danger.
