v gm,—l quite ondorso the hope contained iv " Property • holder's " letter ia this morning's isauo, and trust that tho mayor will call a publis meeting re tho Harbour Board and its operations, lii is a step in tho right direction, as it is quite evident the members of the Chamber of Commerce are not the right peoplo to be entrusted with tha matter; and should good results not quickly follow from the public meeting, I for one shall urge tho women of our town to take the subject in* hand. They are able to work shoulder to ehoulder and with determination, and will certainly no longer remain inactive when they rosliao the number of years the evil has bsen steadily increasing, and that a shoaling bar mcauß a deserted port, dead trade, a shortened puree, and empty cupboard.—l am, &c , Old Resident.
