NATIONAL COURSING CLUB.
The Committee of the National Coursing Club of New Zealand met last evening at Bern's Hotel, Mr Hugh Gourley being in the chair. A letter wai received from Victoria stating that one of the nominators in the Challenge Stake was a defaulter in connection ■with a. racing wager, and asking the club to take action in the matter. It was resolved that the secretary bo instructed to write in the following terms : "That as the case does not appear to have been brought before any recognised club, they have no jurisdiction under their rules." A telegram was received from the secretary of the Auckland Coursing Club statiDg that several Victorian dogs were on their way down, and at-king that special care be taken in the matter of registration.—Received. It was roßolved that the Dnnedin Jockey Club Plumpton Committee be asked to approve of the following gentlemen as stewards to act in conjunction with them during the several coursiDg meetings this season: Messrs Myers, Blaney, Wood, W. Mills, and E. Allen. A very handsome gold medal, suitably inscribed, was presented by Mrs Allen, of the Excelsior Hotel, as a trophy for the winner of the Challenge Stake. The secretary was instructed to convey to Mrs Allen the committee's hearty thanks for the handsome present.
The report which gained currency yesterday that George Campbell, a Dunedin bookmaker attending the Aehborton races, had been arrested there on a charge of larceny was unfounded.
The final payments, with description of dogs, for tbo Duoedin Plnmpton Cotusiog meeting must be made before 4pm.on Monday.
