SAD END OF A ROMANCE.
SUICIDE OF A YOUNG HUSBANO.
(Pee United Press Association.)
Wellington, April 27.
The police have received information that Herbert Edmonds, fcboolm&ster at Piringa Lower Wairarapa, shot himself at 7 a.m. to-day.
The death of Edmonds is a painful end of the romance, which begau in St. Peter's Church a few weeica ago. Then, as telegraphed! his bride refused at the altar to. marry him, but was persuaded to become his wife next morning. That day they left for Piringa, about 10.miles from Martinborough. A passenger who was in the train says ths girl refused to speak to her husband all the way, and before the journey's end was reached she gave him tha slip and disappeared. Edmonds was 27, and of a bright, cheery disposition—not at all the kind of man likely to commit suicide, bat doubtless his temper had been soured or his life embittered by tho events of the last few days. Mrs Edmonds, it appears, did not go to Australia as reported, but returned to her father; with whom she stayed till this week, when she went back once more to her husband. She herself telegraphed the tragic news to her father, but nothing more than the bare fact of the euicide is at present known.
