Tha Bluff Harbour Board's tug Awarua left Port Chalmers yesterday morning for the Bluff Tho b.s. Talune left the tongue wharf yesterday morning and steamed down to Port Chalmers. After embarking passengers and mails she left in the afternoon for Mtlbourne, via the Bluff and Hobart. Tho 8.8. Poherua left the tongue wharf yesterday evening for Auckland, via intermediate ports. .: : • TIM New Zealand Shipping Company's barque Opawa, which may be looked for early next week, is to proceed to Lyttelton and there load for London. ~'■-. The Union Steam Ship Company's steamer Wakatipu is undeJgoing alterations and additions at Port Chalraere, and will shortly bo placed in commission again. ' ■ The s.s. Taviuni was hauled out of the graving dock yesterday morning and berthed at the George street wharf. The b.b. Omapere, from the West Coast, arrived • at Port Chalmers at 7 a.m. yesterday and mado fast alongside the barque Langatone to tranship 328 bales wool from Osimaru. She left Weatport at 8 p.m. of the 19th inst., called at Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, and Oamaru, which latter port she left.at midnight of the 25th, and arrived as above. The weather experienced during the passage was one continuation of heavy gales from N.W. and S.W., with heavy seas, to arrival. Having transhipped the Port Chalmerß portion of her cargo, she steamed up to Dunedin to completß her discharge. The s.s. Kawatiri, from Greymouth, via the Bluff, arrived at Port Chalmers at 530 a. m yesterday and was berthed alongside the hulk Elinor Vernon to discharge some 200 tons coal Mr Brophy (her chief officer) informs us that she left Greymouth on the 21st inst., arrived at the Bluff on the 23rd ; leaving again for headquarters at 2 p.m. on the 25th. The weather experienced during the passage was vety bad, heavy gales from the S W. with sudden N.W. squalls at intervals and furious seas till abreast the Nuggets, when the wind lulled, hauling to the' Westward, and continuing so to arrival. Tha U.S.S. Company's fine steamer Tarawera, from Sydney, via Cook Strait, arrived alongside tho Bowen pier at 10.45 a.m. yesterday. Mr Humphries (her purser) reports leaving Sydney at 5.30 p.m. on the 18th mat., arrived at Wellington at 10 a.m. of the 23rd; sailed for Lyttelton at 2.30 p.m. of the 24th, and reached that port at 6.20 a.m. next day; left for Dunedinatl p.m. of the 2oth, and arrived as above. Between Lyttelton and Port Chalmers the Tarawera experienced the full force of the late southerly gale. She comes up to Dunedin on this mornings tide.
