CAVERSHAM BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of the Caversham Borough Council, held last evening,. was attended by the Mayor (Mr J. H. Hancock), and Crs Yates, Sidey, Butherford, M'lndoe, ¥oung, M'Laren, M'Qonigal, Rie, Ruston, Silrerstone, and Bridgman.
The Works and Baths Committee recommended the council to instruct the inspector to repair the Anderson's Bay road with metal, not to exceed 100 yards ; to spend £5 in widening Norfolk street; to repair Forbury road from Cargill road to the Beach.—Adopted. The Inspector reported on works (hat had been effected in different parts of the borough since last meeting. Metal was required for several roads, especially for the Main South road, Valley road, Wilkie and Forbury roads. He recommended that pipes be laid in College street, from Mr Lake's property. The eosfc would be about £12.—The report was adopted, with the exception of the iast clause, which was referred to the Drainage Committee. The Finance Committee reported that the sum of £73 183 5d had been lodged in the bank since last meeting, and recommended that £29 2s 8d general account, £6 3s 6d water supply account, and £16 10s 9d St. Clair water supply account be passed for payment.—Adopted. The Drainage, Water, and Sanitary Committee recommended that wells be built around 12 valves and 12 fire-plugs at St. Clair.— Adopted. Mrs M. A. Inglis drew attention to the state oE tho gutter around her property at St. Clair, and expressed her willingness to pay £10 towards the construction of a drain.—Tho offer was accepted, and (he Drainage Committee authorised to carry out the work. A number of ratepayers in St. Clair requested tho council to tar and sand the footpath in Arthur street from Mr Eraser's gate to Norfolk, street.—The matter was referred to the iugpector to report. . ■ It was resolved to again communicate with the Inspector of Police regarding cattle straying in the borough.
