TMLECTRICITY v. LUXENE. In a contest between these two illutninants it is questionable which would come out on top. Luxeue is pure white, odourless and smokeless. So is electricity, but the latter requires expensive generating machinery, and is a fixture. Luxeue is portable, ready for use at all times, and with a clear lamp gives the perfection of artificial light. Ouly 2d per gallon over ordinary kerosene.

A SPLENDID collection 9of Hyacinths and other Spring Flowering Plants is now on view at Mr Geouge Matthews', Seedsman, in Moray place, and we would ■ advise those who wish to make a selection of these to pay the establishment au early visit. About 25 varieties of Hyacinths are exhibited, many of them having enormous spikes of bloom. The colours range from pure white through delicate shades of pale pink rose and carmine, and from palest lilac through varied shades of blue to almost black.

Narcissus are also well represented by some charming new varieties lately introduced from Europe. Tulips, being somewhat later flowering, cannot be shown in any quantity at present, but during the ensuing week a special exhibition of these favourite flowers will be made.

The plant house is also well stocked with useful foliage plants such as Palms, Begonias, and Dracenas ; while amongst flowering plants are Primulas, Cinerarias, Calceolarias, Boronias, Heaths, and many others suitable for the decoration of sitting room or green house.

— The love of camp life is more or less strongly implauted in every ' healthy human being. It leads to a revolt against the tyranny of civilisation and to a temporary return to the freedom of our ancestors, altogether beneficial to the young and strong, and when accompanied by mitigating circumstances, in part good for their elders.—Athemeum.

To Parents. —This preparation is invaluable in the nursery as a general laxative; it is pleasant to the taste, and much superior to senna or other nauseous drugs. It corrects the ill effects of overeating or exhaustion, and is extremely beneficia! in any feverishness or heat of the skin. The bowels ought to be kept free by the "ERUPT SALT" for a mouth or six weeks after eruptive diseases like Measles, Scarlet Fever. Chickenpox, Smallpox, and in all Fevers, or Infectious Diseases, <fee, for its use free 3 the system of the "dregs." Many disastrous results would be avoided by attending to this. In the nursery it is beyond praise. CAUTlON.—Examine each bottle and see that the Capsule is marked " ENO'S FRUIT SALT." Without it you have been imposed on by a worthless imitation.
