CRICKET.

CARISBROOK CRICKET CLUB. The season of 1891-92, which came to an end on Saturday, has been a most successful one, though both matches and practice have been greatly interfered with by the wet weather experienced almost throughout the season. The club has been successful in the Cup Matches, winning the trophy from the Grange, who had previously held it since the present competition was inaugurated four years ago. The First Eleven was one of the strongest that tho club has ever had. Two matches only were lost, both when the club's team were on tour in the (' hristmas and New Year holidays, wheu the services of Bell, MacNeil, and Drabble, who subsequently represented the province, were not available. The Second Eleven who for the last six of their matches had the assistance of the professional (Lawton), have also been very successful ; whilo the D Team, composed of the younger players of the club, have done surprisingly well, under the able captaincy of Mr F. C. Liggins, considering that they have met the same teams as the Second Eleven. The past two years have seen a steady improvement in the affairs of the club, and everything points to a further advance next season. Fourty-f our matches have been played, of which 23 were won, 13 lost, 7 drawn, and 1 left unfinished, as follows:— First Eleven, inter-club matches. November 9, v. Grange. AA ron. Subjoined are the batting and bowling averages of the various players. A comparison with last year's results shows that the former are considerably lower with two or three exceptions, while the latter show decided improvement. The very wet season experienced explains this. In the batting averages the players who scored less than five runs per innings are omitted, and in the bowling averages, with the exception of First Eleven men, only those who have bowled 100 balls and over are included.
