CITY POLICE COURT.
Wednesday, March 30. (Before Messrs J. Klmer and C. Allan, J.Fs.) Drunkenness. —For this offence Maria Hamilton, alias Brooker, alias AVoods, was fined 10s ; in default, 48 hours' imprisonment. Cattle Wandering.—For allowing cattle to wander at Kaikorai, Jeremiah Hay wa3 fined 10s and costs, and for allowing two horses to wander at AVest JHarbour, Mungo Hutton was fined 2s 6d, without costs. Quarrelsome Neighbours.—Rosa Cooke was charged with using provoking language towards Jessie Lowe, who asked that the defendant be bound over to keep the peace.—There was a cross action, in which Jessie Lowe was charged with using insulting language towards Rosa Cooke, who asked that the former be ordered to find sureties to keep the peace.—Mr Calvert appeared for Mrs Lowe.—Both sides tendered evidence at great length, and after hearing this the Bench said they were of opinion that one party was as bad as the other. They would both be bound over to keep the peace for three months, and to find sureties in the amount of LlO.
