ROWING NOTES. (By Pakkha.)

The final heat of the Dunedin Club's Pairs comes off on Friday evening, when Kingston and Hudson meet Carr and Davis. In tho semi-finals, Kingston disposed of M'Donnlcl and Swan after a desperato go, M'Donald pulling a game race. Can- won his heat from Roscoe and Brookman pretty easily, Itoscoe tiring at the beacon. The final ought to be a hard fight, and Kingston will have his work cut out to win. Coming to tho more absorbing topic of the regatta. Entries have come up to expectations, and as the public interest is fully aroused the different rowing events are looked forward to with keen anticipation. The Maiden Fours, which come off first, will bo contested by two Port Chalmers, one Dunedin, and one Otago crew. This is bound to be a good race, being very open, but the form Deehan's (Otago) crew are showing is a trifle superior to the others and should carry them past the post first, with Mitchell (Dunedin) very close behind. The Junior Fours, which follow an hour afterwards, have two Dunedin, one Otago, and one Port Chalmers crew entered. This raco is considered by the " man on the wharf" as a moral for Eager (Dunedin), but, the Port crew are undoubtedly good and will push them hard. The Senior Fours should contribute a splendid tussle for supremacy between the rival clubs contending for the premiership and I am a bit doubtful of the result, but on paper Port Chalmers should win with the Otago crew just beating Dunedin for second place. Five crews have entered for the Senior Pairs, which should be won by Port Chalmers without much trouble, their nearest opponents being Otago. The Scullers' Race should prove interesting as the Port representative rather underrates his opponents and has not done enough work to row a hard race, and as both Hogan and M'Grath are in the pink of condition I expect Palamountain to go down. For the Dingey Race, Palamountain should be more in evidence and ought to win, with Proctor and Davys in the places. The Boys' Race should prove a set-to between Innes (Port Chalmers) and Davis, jun. (Dunedin), the latter for choice.
