HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.

The monthly meeting of the Hospital Trustees was held yesterday, and was attended by Messrs P. Miller (chairman), J. Carroll, W. Wright, H. Clark, J. Green, and J. W. Brown. FINANCE. The Finance Committee reported that salaries and accounts for the month of February had been passed for payment amounting to L4126s 3d. The receipts for the month of February were:—lnpatients L7olos, out-patients L 6 ]2s lid, voluntary contributions LI 6s 6d, H.M. Gaol L 3 (is, donations L 6 ss, sales L2los ;—total, L9O 10s. The receipts for the present month up to date were .-—lnpatients L2B ss, out-patients L 2 (is, Hospital Board (for payments of salaries and accounts for February) L 321 15s 3d ;—total, L 352 6s 3d. The bank pass-book showed a credit balance of L 426 0s lOd, aud there was cash in hand amounting to HI. The report was adopted. HOUSE COMMITTEE'S REPORT. The House Committee reported that the tender of Messrs Scoullar and Chisholm for the supply of carpets for the matron's room at 4s 6d per yard had been accepted. Messrs Scoullar ami Uhisholm's tender for supplying furniture for the nurses' rooms was accepted as follows:—Toilet chests L 2 10s, towel rail 3s, carpet 13s 6"d, chairs 7s fid ;—total, L 3 14s. The tender of the Drapery Importing Company (LlB ss) for supplying furniture for the matron's room had been accepted. The matron, Miss Mawe, arrived on the 2nd inst. and commenced her duties at once. Dr Colquhoun was granted 14 days' holiday, his patients being attended to by Dr Davies. In reference to the requisition to the Hospital Board for the annual cost of maintenance of the institution, it would be necessary for the trustees to consider the amount required for maintenance in view of the probable increase of expenditure. The report was adopted, and after consideration in committee it was decided to defer to a future meeting the question of the requisition for the cost of maintenance. CORRESPONDENCE. Messrs Mason and Wales, architects, wrote stating that on the 11th inst. one of the requisition forms for progress payments under grants out of the Public Works fund was filled up for 1,1318, being an estimate for works done and in progress during the current month towards new hospital building, and was posted the same day to the Minister for Public Works. — The letter was received. NOTICE OF MOTION. Mr Brown gave notice to move for an amendment of the bye-laws so as to give the house surgeon discretionary power to admit children under two years of age into the hospital.
