WEST HARBOUR BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The adjourned monthly meeting of the West Harbour Council, held on Tuesday evening, was attended by the Mayor (Mr T. Ross), Crs Harold, Mbller, Dunning, Griffen, George, Sankey, Hutton, O'Donnell, Mathews, and Maarais. ..

James Curie wrote complaining that the outlet to sections 10, 11, 12, block I, Oxford terrace, Herne Bay, had been fenced across. —Referred to town clerk with power to remove. • John Bachop wrote drawing attention to the bad state of the road leading to his property in High street.—Referred to the Works Committee. A letter Was received from D. Waghorn complaining of the small width of Rutherford road, and'asking-the council to widen same. —Referred ;to the Works Committee. ' The Manager of the Bank of New Zealand wrote reference to metalling the road running through the property of the Bank of New Zealand Estates Company, and objecting to any additional (expense in the formation of same.—lt was resolved to adhere to the former decision of the council.

The Inspector reported that the surfaceman had been employed during the last month in cleaning out the water tables and spreading screenings upon several of the footpaths, which were very nyuch in need of it. The late rain had done very little damage in the borough, only a few small slips having taken place in the vicinity of Burkes. jje recommended that the surfaceman be employed to get out about 2j) loads of rotten rock at Curie's Point to patch the road towards Blanket Bay.—Adopted. The Finance Committee reported that the treasurer had paid L5319s into the bank since last meeting, and that all accounts passed had been paid, less unpresented coupon Ll7. The bank overdraft was L 578 Is. Accounts amounting to £58 8s lid were passed for payment.—Adopted. On the motion of Or Harold, seconded by Cr George—" It was decided that the council, through Inspector Hickson, write to the Minister of Justice asking that a constable be permanently stationed in the district."—lt was decided to leave the matter to the mayor and town clerk.
