The Ladies' and Gentlemen's Handicap Doubles for members of the Carisbropk Lawn Tennis Club will be commenced this afternoon. As this is only the first of the series of tournaments that have been inaugurated by the club, it is expected that all members who have entered will make a point of being present,, so that the second event may be started as soon as possible. •••.•■ '

At the first day of the Tapanui races the sum of L 99- was put through the totalisators. The results were:—President's Handicap: Enfield, 8.12,1; Apres Moi, 8.7, 2; Milton, 7.5, 3; dividend, LI 14s. Maiden Plate: Recorder ; dividend, LI 12s; Mirabelle came in first, but was disqualified. District Handicap: Apres Moi, 1; Gardenia, 2 ; Annie Laurie, 3; dividend, LI 18s. Tapanui Handicap : Wild Wave, 8.2,1; The Chief, 7.7, 2; Milord, 7.12,3; dividend, L 2 Bs. Novel Race: Black Jack, 1; Skip, 2 ; Jack, 3. ' A Wanganui telegram states that Cruchfield has been scratched for all engagements at the Autumn meeting of the Wanganui Jockey Club.
