♦ . • ■ (Per United Pbess Association.) Auckland, February 5. A Maori, Hone Ramaka, had his left hand blown off at Mongonui by the bursting of a guv. A gumdigger, named Robb Twelvetrees, disappeared from his camp, at Ruakaka, on the night of the 30th January, and has not since been seen. Napieb, February 5. Three Maoris went fishing at the mouth of the Ngaruroro yesterday. The boat upset. Two of the occupants reached the shore, but the third was drowned. Chbistchukch, February 5. Mrs Beattie was drowned this morning in trying to cross the Hapuka River, Kaikoura, in a van. Deceased, with the van and horses, was washed out to sea. She is" the wife of Mr Beattie, of the firm of Black, Beattie, and Co., Christcnurch. Mr Fleming, coroner, held an inquest at Milton on Thursday touching the death of a boy, John Murphy, aged 11 years, son of "William Henry Murphy, coal merchant. It appeared from the evidence that on Tuesday evening the boy was out on horseback, and when going at a smart canter .the horse stumbled and came to his knees, the boy falling off and ■ breaking his neck. He never moved or spoke. The horse was a quiet one, and the boy had been accustomed to riding him. The accident was seen by his mother and two Salvation Army girls, who were near by. The jury returned a verdict of "Accidental death." ■ - . -
