EDUCATION BOARD ELECTION.

TO THE EDITOR,

Sir,—As it has come to my knowledge that some school committees, in nominating for tho "vacancies in the Education Board, have had tho impression that it is my intention to take a trip to the Home country during this year, I take this opportunity of making it known that if elected to the board I shall give up tho thought of going Home for the present.—l am, &c,

SAND DRIFT AT THE OCEAN BEACH,

TO THE EDITOR,

Sin, —Referring to the letter from the Rev. Rutherford Waddell which appeared in your issue of Wednesday last regardiug the accumulation of drift sand, as I understand it, from a point near the Pacific Hotel eastward to Lawyer's Head, I would like to call the attention of those interested in the preservation of the Ocean Beach to the banking of sand in this quarter. I am confident that so loug as the southerly and westerly wind forces are allowed to act on the sand unchecked by planting or protective works to stay the drift this accumulation of sand will continue to the eastward at the expense of the St. Clair end, which will sink as the other eud rises. This accumulation is due to the easterly drift from the south-west and westerly winds.—l am, &c.,
