ROSLYN BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Tho ordinary meeting of the Roslyn Borough held lat evening was attended by Cra Fraser (in tho chair iv the absenco o£ the mayor), Mathcuou, Wilkinson, Scott, Fhilp, M'Rae, Stewarf, Higgius, Farley, Ferry, Liddell, and Sim; COHHESI'OKDENCK. Mr iJ. T. Home, manager of tbo Dunedin Finance, Loan, and Agency Company* Limited, drew attention to the condition of the drain on the company's property in Sunnyside, occupied by Mr Coutts as a store.—lt was decided that steps bo taken to remedy the matter complained of. Mr E. Smith, factor of the Presbyterian Church, wrote that he had been compelled to delay replying to the council's letter of June 26, in consequence of hot having received any communication from Mr Park, as to the council's stipulation for a footpath through his property to connect the Littlebourno road with the section in the occupation of the High School rectory. From a letter he received ho learned that the only condition on which he would agree to convey the footpath in question was that he received a payment of £20 cash, and that the upper portion of the footpath be fenced off, and entries made to his satisfaction. —The letter was dealt with in the Works Committee's report. The town clerk of the Maori Hill Borongh Council wrote that as nearly the whole of the land adjoining the road leading from the top of Newington towards Glenury had now been fenced, he would b« glad to know if the council would agree to bear half cost of screening the footpath.—lt was decided to contribute £5 towards the cost of the work. BEPOBTS. The Works Committee reported with reference to Mr Smith's letter, that he be referred to the council's letter of 26th June, and that he be asked whether the board considered the oonncil should pay the £20 demanded by Mr Park for the footpath.—The report was adopted. The Finance Committee reported that accoants amounting to £250 14s 4d be passed for payment. The bank overdraft stood at £311. It recommended that Mr Finkcr's application for enrollment on the burgeES list be granted providing all conditions vtete fulfilled.— The report was adopted. THE BBOCKVILLE HOAD. A deputation representing the residents of Brockville waited upon the council to urge upon it the necessity of a deviation of the present Brockville road.—After a discussion, it was resolved that an estimate of the value of land proposed to be taken be arrived at, and a definite offer be made to theowner, Mr Sonntag.—A long letter received from Mr Sonntag on the matter, the purport of it being that he wished a survey to be made of the present road. —The letter was received. SPECIAL MEBTINQ. A special meeting was then held, to make certain bye-laws fixing the cost of kerbing and channelling, and also a bye-law regulating the use of barb-wire fences abutting on roads.—The bye-laws were approved.
