WANTED, A LENS.
Sir, —Is it possible to shape a piece of glass that will assist the eye to see objects more distinctly at various distances-say, 18in, 18 yards, and 18 miles)? I will give £5 to any optician who can furnish me with a lens that fills the bill. If he cannot do it, then all those people who wear the same spectacles to read the paper, to play a game of billiards, to tell the time by the town clock, and to expatiate on the distant scenery of the Peninsula, are simply frauds in window glass, which gives no assistance whatever to the sight; so that it may be laid down, as a general rule, that persons who constantly wear spectacles, indoors and out, are only putting on frills, and their eye-openers are only common cheap window glass, at Od a dozen. Doctors, music teachers, ministers, dudes, and larrikinesses, please note,—l am, &c, May 30. > Sceptic.
