Three German warships have been despatched to Chilian waters.
A quantity of munitions of war which were intended to be shipped to Valparaiso for the use of the rebels has been seized by the authorities. *
The report that the proposed mediation between the Chilian belligerents has ended in failure is premature. The representatives of France, Brazil, and the United States are continuing their efforts to bring about a peaceful settlement by means of arbitration, and they are confident of success.
