ROSLYN BOROUGH COUNCIL.

An ordinary meeting of the Roslyn Borough Council, held last night, was attended by Crs Duncan (in the chair), Wilkinson, Fraier, Scott, Sim, Stewart, Liddell, Higgles, Ferry, and Farley. With referenca to the request from Ghesters that the nuisance arfciag from a ditch on the Kaikorai road be removed, the committee advised that the ditch be filled up and a path formed when the weather is moro favourable for undertaking the work. They also recommended that the tender of Mr R. Millar, for supplying 100 yds of metal on Pacific street, Nevada, at 5s *5d per yard, be accepted; that the Inspeotor be authorised to procure some stone for metal from Mr M'Laren, Kirkland Hill, at Is per load, and from Mr Blackwood, Brockville, at 8d per cubic yard. The inspector had been instructed to inquire into tha matter, and if necessary, repair the drain complained of by Mr M'Donald:—The report was adopted. Tne Finance Committee recommended that aocountß amounting to £140 3s 9d be passed for payment. They also reported that the bank overdraft ou the 14th inst. was £372,—The Chaikman stated that when the Bubsidy of £187 which was due to the council had been received tho overdraft would be down to £185.—The report was adopted. MOTIONS, BTO. Or WltKHfsox moved—" That with a view of arriving at some permanent arrangement between this council and the City of Dunedin Corporation regarding the maintenance and repair of all the roads leading from the city to Roslyn through ;the Town Belt, a deputation consisting of his Worßhfp the Mayor, Ors Duncan, Higgins, and the mover be appointed to wait upon and confer with the Mayor of Dunedin on the matter." Cr Stewabt seconded the motion, which was carried. Cr Lidebll moved—" That this council take immediate steps to put a stop to all persons depositing rubbish on all streets within the borough." Tha motion was seconded by Cr Ferky and currlfd. The matter of forming and screening a footpath in Queen street was referred to tho Works Committee, with power to act. The licensing fee for slaughtering to be paid by Mr Patrick was fixed at £10. It was resolved on the motion .of Cr Wilkinson, seconded by Cr Scott, that the resolution passed at last meeting of council with regard to making a rate of 5d in tha; pound on the rateable value of all the rateable property in that part of Sunnyside Ward annexed to tha borough .be confirmed. Cr LiDXtBLL moved—" That the resolution passed by tho council aome two years ago in regard to h'awkerß'carts being licensed, be forthwith put into force, and that flteps be taken by the council to colleoi the licenses." Cr Sim seconded tha motion, which was carried.
