THE WHAKF LABOURERS' DISPUTE

When the wharf labourers were proceeding to unload the Pukaki they were informed that it was intended the stevedore should discharge in accordancn with the resolution passed at the labourers' meeting yesterday. The men thereupon refused to work at all in spite of: the resolution. At a mass meeting of whar/ labourers to-night their action was disapproved of by the officers of tha union. In consequence of this difficulty the (steamship owners declined to discuss the new rales put forward by the federated seamen at the conference whioh was arranged with that object to-day, until they were informed whether it was intended to support the labourers. The seamen's delegates were uuable, to give an undertaking not to support them, and the conference thereupon adjourned until Monday.

THE MARINE OFFICERS.

The delegates from the marine officers interviewed the owners to-day to ascertain their intentioiia. The latter replied that they were unable to consitlur.the proposals until they were assured the officers would not join the Maritime Council, and also stipulating that thoMelbouino officers should withdraw from the council. A special meeting of officers is called fot Monday to consider the position.
