Sporting writers, commenting on Kirkham's running in the Hastings Plate, express surprise at the form he showed.
Owing to Surefoot's victory in the Two Thousand Guineas, he is established first favourite for the Derhy at 6 to 4 on.
The New South Wales mare Lady Betty ran fourth in the Peel Handicap. Riugmaster has bnen withdrawn from the Cheshire and (Somerset Handicaps.
