Tho weekly meeting of tho Land Board held on Wednesday was attended by Mr J. P. Maitland (chief commissioner), J. W. Thomson, W. Dallas, 11. Clark, and J. Duncan.

NENTiioiffl.-The Chief Commissioner Bu KK ested to the board the advisability of dealing with certain lauds in Neuthorn district, subject to valuation for improvements as estimated by Diotrict Surveyorßaron, and that the following sections be Bet apart for the purposes rneutioued-viz.: -Sectional and 2, block V, lor public buildings; block IV, for recreation purpoaeß ; and sectioua Ito 4,17 to 20, block VI, for educational purposes. A meeting of tho Progress Committee had been held, and It was thought desirable that the lands in the district should be opened as tuggeßted,—Consideration of the matter was adjourned for a week.

HiaiiLAY.-Mr O. E. Griffin's application fora triangle reserve opposite section 24, block 11, Highlay, was declined.

Kurow.—A letter was received from Mr R. B. Martin, on behalf of John Smith, opposing Mr W. D. Smith's application on behalf of John K. Wade for an extension (;f lease of coal area on block IV, Kurow, his client having erected the boundary fence and never been paid for the half of hia work —To stand over for consideration until a report is received from Kanger Hughan on Wade's application. Gimmebbuhn.—A letter from Mr John Law as to a block of 1000 or 1200 acres taken from Run 225e, adjoining block IV, Gimmerburn district being offered for aale, and as to boundaries of same, was considered.—The chief surveyor was requested to have tho area in question surveyed into suftable-Bized sections, so as to allow the neighbouring property holders to add to their holdiugs—-James Cain, Naaeby, wrote asking the board to recommend Government to declare sections 3 and d, blockVl, Gimmerburn, ooutalniugaboufc4ooacres, now portion of a forest reserve, open for application under section a of the. "Land Act Amendment 1889," for cash, on deferred payments, or on perpetual leaße. Therowaaa considerable area of land reserved for foreßt purposes in Maniototo, and he did not think that anobjection would be made locally to the laud being thrown open to settlers. Koad Lines.—The Clerk of the Mount Stuart Road Board submitted for approval lists of roads ou which ifc is intended to spend money coming to the board from deferred payment and small grazing run lands.—Hoad lines approved. TEVIOT.-Mr W. L. Simpson, on behalf of William M'Loughlin, pastoral lessee of section 10, blockVlll, and section 8, block V, Teviot, naked permission to transfer the latter section to Matthew Klliot, both sections being included in one license. —Applications granted on the usual terms; rent to be allocated according to acreage. Blackstoke.—Mr W. L. Simpson, on behalf of Robert A. Clarke, made application for the grazing right over sections 2, 3, and 4, block VIII, Blackstone, on condition of keeping down the rabbits thereon.—Application declined; Governor-in-Coun-cil recommended to offer sections for pastoral license, as sections are auriferous.

DuNDACK.-An npplieation to transfer pastoral license (for approval.) from John Brown to James Kennedy over sections I and 2, block VIII, sections 1, 2, and 3, block IX, and Bection 22, block V, Duuback, was adjourned, the board desiring tho applicant to state his reasons for deEiring the transfer to take place.

Lake County.—The Lake County Council forwarded a list of deferred payment and pastoral leases in the county, with tho roads indicated on which the moneyß are to be spent.—Koad lines approved, Coal License.—The salesman wrote bringing under the notice of the board the position of tho coal license granted to Thomas Jackson and party, which had never been uplifted, and ou which noreut had beon paid. ;He had forwarded notices to the licensees, and they had asked for a further extension of time in which to pay up all arrears. As the rent

was nearly a year in arrear, and as the party had been working the ground, he suggested that the license be forfeited.—Licensees to be notified that unless rent is paid within one month from date license will becaucelled. Waipobi Hundred.—Messrs Fraser and Stilling asked that Mr ltobert Cotton be appointed ranger for the Waipori Hundred under section 4, appendix 11, "Land Act 1885," no wardens having been appointed.—Mr J. M. Fraser appeared on behalf of Cotton; Mr Hosking for a man named Pilling, who claimed to have an interest in the matter.—Consideration was adjourned for a week, as Mr Hosking asked that tho Tuapeka County Council be communicated with.
