ST. KILDA BROUGH COUNCIL.

An onllu.ry meeting of tho St. Kilila Borough Council was held last nlgbt and attended by the Mayor (Mr Stenhouso), Cis Gore, Skipworth, MitcheU, Allan, ami Caddiu. Tho acting Town Clerk of Dunedin wro'o st.ting that thu inspector for tho city had been Instructed to confer witli the inspectors of nuisances in adjoining boroughs witli a view to a general inspection of all dairies within thoir respective districts, and asked the co-operatlou of the Sl. Kilila Counoil in the proposed action.—lt was resolved to co-operate in tho matter as requested, and to ask Inspector Morrison to appoint a timo to meet tho borough iuape,et»r wiih tho viow of inspecting tbo dairies in the borough. Communications wero received from tho secretory of the United Districts Charitable Aid and Hospital Boards with referenco to the contributions to the aaid boards by the local authorities.—lt was decided to piy tbe contributions monthly. Secretary of tho Otago Hunt Olub wrote in regard to the payment of a tax for the hounds which were removed to the borough a few weoks ago, and it was decided to fix tbe tax at £<l. j John Bond wrote complaining of tho impassable alnfce of Douglas street, and asking the council to covor in tbe ditch, and to put a stop to tho practice indulged in by a resident of Cargill stroet, of depositing all kinds of refuse iv Douglas street.—Referred to the inspector to report. Tha Inspector of Works reported that tho drain on tbe west sido of Moreau stroet had become blocked up and required attending to at once. That portlou of drain betwoen Mr Scaulau'B-junction ou tho east side of Valpy streot and the open ditch opposite Mr Powell's property required some (iin piplngialddownln.it. He had made a thorough inspection of the cow-byres in thn borough and found them all thoroughly clean. —It was resolved tbat tbo inspector be authorised to procure 90 feet of 6in pipes for the ditch in front of Mr Scanlan's property j that he attend to the work in front of Mr Allan's property; that he take the wheel off fche valve at. stand pipe opposite Hutton's every day at 12 o'clock a.m., and put on tbe same at at S o'clock nexfc morning. The clerk was instructed to write to Mr Bell applying for the balance of metal—about 300 yds— for Victoria road, as the borough had been put to a good deal of expense In connection with lhe said road.

A progress payment of £10 for Mr Mead' 6 contract on tbe Victoria road was agreed to, and accounts amounting to £16 were passed for payment.
