A tailor named Andrew Nvstrr.w, working on the ship Brahmin, was nearly killed to-day by a coil ot fencing vvito fulling from the sliugs and striking him. His left arm was broken and his head injured.

Timaru, February 18.

An old soldier about 70 years of age, who had been on a farm near Timaru, in a fit of passion took " Rough on Rats." He recovered in the hospital, and was to-day charged with attempted suicido and remanded till Friday, to enable tho police to make arrangements for his future care.
