THE NORTH EXPRESS.
TO THE EDITOB,
Sib, —Allow me through the medinm of your paper to draw attention to the absurd hour at which the North express arrives at an important town like Dunedin. I arrived last night a stranger here at 9 p.m., and then had to look for some place of abode, which after a small hunt of half an hour I got, but owing to the late hour I had to go to bed aupperless, as it would be unreasonable to expect any tea at such an hour. Loud and deep wore the growls in my carriage at the unseemly hour we were timed to arrive, and the comments on the railway commissioners were not at all favourable The public opinion in Canterbury (and as far as I know here) favours the idea of leaving both' ends at 9 a.m., arriving at 7 p.m. If you are leaving on a journey you can as easily leave at 9 as 11. When jour exhibition is in tall swing a large number of passengers will arrive by this traiD, and it is unreasonable to expect strangers to find lodgings at that time of uight. Trusting that if you agree with me you will lend your valuable aid to have this altered.—l am, &c, Dunedin, October 24. A Tbaveliib.
