It is not expected that more than 16s per Share will require to be called up. Provisioxal Directors : Oaptaik CAMERON, U.S.S. Company JOHN COOK, Esq., U.S.S. Company Captain EASTHER, 8.N., U.S.S.Company THOMAS MOODIB, Esq,, Perpetual Trustees Company. Captain M'FARLASE, Port Chalmers ROBERT NBILL, Esq. Bankers: bank of new zealand. Brokers : ANDREW HAMILTON, Exchange Court. Interim Secretary: ANDREW HAMILTON, Exchange Court. Solicitors : MACGRBGOR and NORTH, Dunedin and Fort Chalmers. This Company is formed for the purpose of aoquiring and working the claim on the Shotover river called the Bar, which Is Bituated about four miles below the now famous olaim of Mr Sew Hoy at the Big Beach, and is about one mile and a-quarter In length, running from the Lower Shotover bridge down to the mouth of the river, where it joins the Kawarau. . This c!alm la most conveniently situated, being close to the, main road, so that coal and all materials can be placed on the ground at a reasonable Co9t. It is proposed to work the claim by a bucket dredge, similar to that at present working on tie Big Beach, with such improvements as experience maysuggeat. ' . . The cost of the dredge, fully equipped, is estimated at about £2250, and gold should be obtained as Boon ai the dredge is at work. As! soon as two-thirds of the shares are.subscribed, a contract will be entered Into for a dredge, which would then be placed upon the river without delay. ■. . ■ Nothing need be said of; the immensely rich gold deposits of the well-known Shotover river, more eapeclally about this locality. The river runs mostly through deep, rocky gorges, and for miles is totally unfit for dredging, but the claim now under offer is quite free from gorge. , It has also a false or sandy bottom, from which the1 gold oan be readily tcraped up by a bucket dredge. At the lowest calculation the proposed dredge should lift 50, tons per hour. It will therefore be easily understood that the returns from Buch an amount of gold bearing stuff must be large. , Prospecting has been carried on above by the Big Beach Company, and'bolow at the junction of the Kawarau with highly satisfactory results. . . All expenses for floating and registering the Company to be paid by the Company. Applications for shares will now be received by the Company's Broker, and the Share List will close as soon as the requisite number of shares shall have been applied for. . - Ab nearly 1000 shares have been taken up, early application is necessary to secure Ehe balance of the 3000 shares now offered to the public. 25jy ]R O S P E O T IJ S Of theBHBAK O'DAY QUARTZ MINING COMPANY (LIMITED), NBNTHORNi OTAGO, N.Z. SKCHKTAHY: J. T. BROOKE HIOKSON, Earn street, Naieby, and Main street, Nenthorn. The above Company has already been successfully. formed, and is now being registered under "The' ! Mining Companies Act 1886," and the proprietors, in order to provide for the immediate development of their undoubtedly valuable property, have decided on Issuing 10,000 Shares for public subscription, calling up 48 per Share as above stated. On the sum of 4b per Share being paid up on the 10,000 Shares now offered to the public, the 22,000 Shares retained by the original proprietors will become equally liable for calls in the same proportion. The properties owned by the Company, and to be; duly registered In its corporate name, comprise three licensed holdings of 30 acres each, known as the "Break o' Day," "Close o' Day," and "Jubilee" claims; a valuable water right, and a most conveniently situated machine site. • In tills property there are two distinct Does of I reef, known as No. 1 and No. 2. No. 1 reef has been sunk upon in the Brenk o' Day claim to a total depth; of 56ft, at which level the reefis 18in in width— I having widened to that from 12in at surface—and carries first rate prospects from top to bottom.: No., 2 reef has been sunk upon in the Close o' Day claim to a depth of 30ft, where it is aft in width, carrying even better prospects than No. 1. It should be hero mentioned that the property now under notice is adjoining along tht line of reef, to the Victoria Company's olaim, recently so successfully floated, and that the came lines of reef In that olaim run through the claims now referred to—the latter being situated to the east of the Victoria Company's' claim—and it will be fresh in the memorr ot.tbe public that the test crushing sent to EalKrift'by the Victoria Company gave a gross yield of 2oz Hdwt 2gr to the ton of ore. This being so, it is but reasonable to suppose that the reefs should be just as valuable in the Break o' Day and Close o' Day claims, and they have been proved to a greater depth. The third Claim wdich goes to make up the Property of this Company has not yet been sunk upon, but the reefs have been prove*} to run right through It. and it ia the opinion of those who have worked in' these Claims that, were thej thoroughly prospected, one other line of reef at IRst would be discovered. The Property is very^stonvenlently, situated, and should it be considered desirable or expedient so to do, a main adit ooul# conveniently be driven, giving: from 50ft to 100 ft of lacks. The reefs have been, thoroughly prospected, and a comparatively small: amount of work is Ml that will be necessary to putl the claim In thorough working order and commence, getting stove out for crushing. ■ Negotiations with reference to machinery are now' pending, and it is bellered that most satisfactory arrangements in this connection will be oompleted In the course ol a few weeks. ' The Nenthorn goldfield generally has now been bo often described and referred to In terms of high commendation In the publto prints that it Is unnecessary to recapitulate its advantages at length here. Suffice It to say that It Is the opinion of mining experts aud others of wide and varied experience that the field will become ouo of the richest—lf not the richest— reefing districts ever discovered in tho Colouv. To the people of Dunodln, and of Otago generally, the development of this field must result in Inuneu6e i benefits, by stimulating trade generally, by giving ; employment to large numbers ct working men, and, by affording n field I'or the Investment of capital so| near their own doors that tha benefits to share-, holders will be two-fold—not only direct, but also; indirect. The Break o' Day Oompany's Property, In particular. Is without doubt one of the best proved and* richest mi the field. There are two distinct Hues of feof—ivell prospected,—which are the continuation oi thOße running through the Victoria Company's property, and the facilities for working are such that the greatest amount of gold, with the least expenditure of labour, should be the result of the Company's operations. Applications, accompanied by a deposit of 6d per Share, to be forwarded to the Secretary or any of the Company's Brokers immediately. Prospectuses, with forms of application, may be obtained from the Secretary, any of the Brokers of the Company, or any Ot»go branch of the Bank of New Zealand. The entire list will close as soon as the requisite number of applications shall have been received, and as a, largo number of Shareß have already been locally: subscribed, prompt application ia necessary. No. application for a less number than 50 Shares will be; received by the Company's Brokers. Iv the event of a surplus of applications, distribution will bo made pro rata, but preference will be given to those applications most promptly lodged. N.B.- It Is oxpressly to be noted that the Capital . of this Company has been made much smaller than that of other companies at Nenthom recently placed upon the market, and thus— that Shareholders will participate more largely in the Dividends thereof in proportion to the: number of Shares held. 19jy, MOST and OHANDOITS Dry Imperial ij ■ Champagne. 1884 rlntago. 3On ; TAGO V/XTNKSS.—New Btor.ioa.--4 ■ (ursf. tmnnnt ot CmiUni/ K»ttm Prl.y. «d. .
