The revenue collected at the General Post Office for the quarter ended 31st December 1888 was £44,853, as agaiust £40,930 for the corresponding period of the previous year Auckland, £5820; Christchurch, £4823; Dunedin, £4699; Wellington, £4850.
The telegraph revenue was £5253, as against £5808 for the corresponding quarter of tho previous year.
Iv tho money order brauch 42,726 orders were issued for £144,199, as against 41,950 for £142,930 for the corresponding period. The savings bank accounts opened numbered 4523, as against 4502 ; closed 39T0, as against 3549. The amount of deposits . was £355,427, agaiust £316994. The amount of withdrawals was £360,053, agaiust £292,441—the excess of withdrawals over deposits being £4620. The number of postal notes sold was 37,90-1 for £14,597, agaiust 31,699 sold for £12,602.
