Report for the week ending Thursday, March 29, 1888 :— A large busineaa has be«n transacted In all kinds of grain, and it would have been still greater had bottoms been available. The London market remains easy, and with the available supplies from other wheat growing countries, we fail to see any prospects in the immediate future. A few intercolonial have come to hand during the week, which has had the effect of enlivening business. Wheat.—Prime Tuscan is still in best demand at 2s 9d; aud pearl is alto very saleable at 2s Sd ta 2s 9d; Hunters, at 2s 7d to 2a Ed ; chicken whwit (broken), 2s to 2s 3d, with good demand. Oats.—An improvement lias been noticeable in this cereal, and up to Is 8d has been paid for the best lines of short feed. Duns and »eed tartars are also ■wanted for shipment at a simiUr figure. Inferior kinds, however, are not being dealt with ,to any great extent. Barley.—Prime lots 6till command full rates of 4s 3d to 4s id; but second quality is not so saleable as they were, most of the malsters being to someextent independent for the time being. Beans have a ready sale at 2s 6d, but growers are asking an advance ; business consequently has been restricted. Pease are dull; as 3d to 2s 4d for feeding sorts, and 2s 8d to 2i 9d for Prussian blues are the ruling rates. Grass Seed.—Sales are very slow, orders are coming to hand very slowly, and prices show no improvement on 2s to 2s 3d for farmers' parcels, and 2s fld for machine dressed. Cocksfoot is miiet; a few sales have been completed at 3d to 3J-d for heavy bright seed ; inferior is not being dealt in at the present; gieat difficulty is experienced in getting freight lor London. Potatoes.-Kidneys are selling freely at £,'. to £2 2b (3d at country stutiotiß. Dairy Produce.—liuttcr has only a moderate demand at IJ<l to SJd; cheese, however, is quiet at 2Jd to 3d.
