ATTACKED AND INJURED BY A SHARK.

When Ksinillon, Stevenson, and the two boys got ashore, they observed Grant being attacked. The shark caught hold of his left arm, and Grant pluckily endeavoured to drive it off with his risht. The man and fish sank beneath the water, and when Grant came to the surface again ho had frc.d his arm, but it was •dreadfully lacerated, the water bfiirif red with blood. While the shark was endeavouring to snake another dive at him he made the he^t of Ilis way ashore. Fnrailton and Stoveri'.yu rushed to his assistance ]u«t as the chark was coming up to Grant again. They dragged Grant ashore, the shark following them into the breakers. Another minute ami tho rescuers would have been too late. Graut never lost consciousness, but was very weak. On arriving at the hospital his arm was found to have two large gashes above the elbow and very much bitten between the elbow and haud. It was deemed necessary to amputate the arm above the elbow. Although suffering great pain, Grant has borne up well, and is progressing favourably considering thy shock to the system.
