Tho glove contest between 11. Matthews and C. Richardson for £ 100 a side and the championship of New Zealand, at Wellington last night, was awarded to Matthews after 10rounds, on the grounds that Richardson broke the rules by hugging after beiug ordered by the referee to release. Hichardson had been warned several times previously. Matthews had much the best of the couteit. The Auckland Cricketers' Association have offered the Melbourne Club the whole of the net profits ol the match if the English team visit Auckland next seasou
