The wheat market is inactive; Large American shipments have increased the supply, off-coast. cargoes being numerous. There is, however, a slack demand. The ■Lady Grenbyn's cargo has been sold at 33s 3d, the Castleholme's at 3d, and the Riga's at (id more. The cargoes of'six Australian vessels have been withdrawn, mostly for the Continent. Eight ships are at London awaiting sale. Quotations: Ex granary, 355; ex ship, 34s 6d. Heavy rains have fallen in England. THE LANGWORTHY MARRIAGE. Mrs Langworthy, whose case has excited so much attention since it was taken up by the Pall Mall Gazette, has been awarded £1200 a year, or £27,000 in hard cash; and her child is allowed £500 a year. WESTERN AUSTRALIAN RAILWAYS. Sir James Browne, mayor of Neucastle-on-Tyne, has purchased the interest held by the John Wadding ton syndicate in the Western Australian railways, and formed a company for the construction of a line from Guildford to Geraldton. THE BRENNAN TORPEDO. The trials of the Bronnan torpedo at Sheerncss were a complete success. At different ranges the torpedo repeatedly struck a rapidly-moving vessel. Sir J. Lorimer and Captain Thomas expressed the opinion that the torpedo would be useful for Australian defence. THE NEW BULGARIAN PRINCE. The deputation from the Sobranje to Prince Ferdinand wore unfavourably impressed with him, considering- him to be too diplomatic. » ''
