CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE. Report for the week ending Friday, 3rd June:—

We have but few alterations to note in the values Ot grain and produce. There has been a steady business doing in intercolonial shipping, and stocks have generally had to be drawn from stored parcels. The Australian tnarketsareexceedinglyslow at showing any improvements, and in the meantime shippers are careful not toexceed last week's quotations Home shipments have lessened, holders being of opinion that freights will be more reasonable later in the season.

Wheat.-Pnme lines continue to attract attention ot buyers, Any parcels en offer are quickly taken at last week s quotations—viz., 3s 6d for Tuscan and pearl and 3s 5d for Hunter's. Second quality commands full rates of 3s 3d to 3s 4d, aud broken fowl ■wheat is scarce, and easily sold at 2s 9d to 2s lid. Oats.—More business has been done in short heavy feed at Is 9d to Is pid, and all milling lines are taken up at Is lOd. Long and inferior feed oata are still rather dull at Is 7d to Is Bd. Barley still commands special attention of maltsters, if prime and good quality, at 3s lOd to 4s • secoud quality varies from 3s 3d to 3s Bd, and feed is ■worth 2s 4d to 2s 6d.

Pease.—Prussian blues are dull at 3s to 3s 3d. Feed sorts are inquired for at 2a 9d to 2s lOd, but few lines are offering. ~. . . ' ■ Beans are chiefly in the hands of merchants, who are asking 3s Id to 3s 2d. Grass Seed.—Both ryegrass and cocksfoot are very quiet. Sales of machine-dressed are but limited, and in small quantities. Farmers' lines are nominallvat the values quoted last week. Potatoes. -In the face of Sydney and Auckland advices buyers are very backward in speculating and beyond a few interprovincial orders ie is hard to effect sales Farmers in nearly every instance are pitting, so that in a few weeks it is reasonable to expect an improved tone. Present values are 25s at country stations. Dairy produce has no quotable change. Abe above prices a?e those paid to farmers for delivery f.o.b. Lyttelton.
