SCOTT v. CAPTAIN COTTON,

Cheistchuhch, June 3. The 24 hours' walking match between Captain Cotton and Joe Scott began in the Tuam street hall at 10 o'clock to-night, Captain Cotton receiving 10 miles. At 11 o'clock Scott had done 6 1323 miles, and Captain Cotton 5 miles.
(Fbom our Own Cobresfondent.) Later. At midnight Scott had covered 12 miles, and Captain Cotton 19| miles. Scott gained a mile and a-half in the first hoar, and three-quarters of a mile in the second hour. Both men are going well. The betting at the start was 2 to 1 on Scott, but afterwards 6 to 4 was taken. For 10 minutes everybody was a taker of the odds, but Scott has just spurted, walking three laps to the captain's two, and backers are silent. At 1 o'clock Captain Cotton had done 25 miles and Scot-. 17 miles 20 laps. Two to one oa Captain Cotton was laid. At 2 o'clock Captain Cotton had covered 30 miles, and Scott 23 miles 11 laps. The track is 23 laps to the mile. Five to 4on Cottou is aow offered.
