THE NEW BEAUMONT BRIDGE.

The new lattice-girder bridge over the Molvneux at Beaumont, which has been in course of erection for the past 12 months, was handed over by the contractor (Mr Anderson, of Christchurch) to the Government on Monday last when the first vehicle was driven across. The price of Mr Anderson's contract is £5000, but this does not include the piers and abutments On Monday afternoon a party of ladies and gentlemen were driven out to the Beaumont from Lawrence by Mr Anderson in one of CraiJ and Co.'s coaches which was the first vS to cross. The workmen assembled on the bridge and cheered the party on their arrival An ari journment was subsequently made to the Bridge Hotel, where Mr Anderson entertained his guests to a champagne luncheon, provided in Mr Nash s best style.
