OUR VOLUNTEERS.
There was a very good nm&ter of volunteers at the Garrison Hall yesterday morning,, where a number of the city and suburban corps met for church parade. Colonel Whitmore was also present on .parade, aud so were the Ordnance Garrison, and Kaikorai bands. The churches attended by the different companies were St. Joseph's Cathedral, St. Matthew's, St. Paul's, Knox, aud the First Church. The parade state was as follows :— ORDNANCE ba-italiox. Dunediu Naval Artillery.—l captain, 1 lieutenant, 13iank and file; tot-.1. 15. Peninsula Navals. -1 captain, 1 sergeant, 8 rank and file; total, 10. North Dunediu Ri lies.—l lieutenant, 2 sergeants, 25 rauk and file; total, 2S. Wakari Rifles.—l captain, 2 lieutenants, 1 coloursergeant, 1 sergeant, 13 rank and file; total, 18. South Dunedin Rifles.—l captain, 1 lieutenant, 3 sergeants, 1 bugler, 15 rank and file; total, 21. Highland Rifles.—l lieutenant, I colour-sergeant, 1 sergeant, 1 bugler, 10 rank and file; total, 14. Caversham Rifles.—l captain, 2 lieutenants, 1 colour-sergeant, 12 rank and file ; total, 16. Irish Rifles.—l lieutenant, 1 sergeant, 1 bugler, 32 rank aud file; total, 35. The Dunedin Cavalry wero also on parade. The Wakari Rifles held their first handicap match on Saturday afternoon for the company's prizes. The ranges were 200, 500, and 600 yds. The member that first gains 21 points takes first prize. The following were the principal scorers:—
