CITY COUNCIL.
The following notice of motion will be considered at a speoial meeting of the City Counoil on Monday:—
By Cr Murray: " That the reports of his Worship the Mayor, Mr Mirams, city engineer,and the Relief Go-umittee re unemployed and Dowling street accident be handed over to Mr W, \>. Simpson, late resident magistrate, with his consent, and tbat he reoeivo the council's sanction to obtain all correspondence aud other
documentary papers relating thereto, to examine all necessary witnesses, and give his opinion on Lhe following points:—l. In what direction and to what extent did thn Relief Committoe Inter: fere and take control of tho works? 2. To whi'.t extent and how long was Mr Minims" in chniTg of the works? 3. To what extent and how long were the works under the charge of his Worship the Mayor? 4. Under whose actual control
were the works at the time of the accident? Answers to the above, along wilh any others that Mr Simpson may deem necessary, be furnished to the council at an early date." '
