MAORI HILL BOROUGH COUNCIL.

An adjourned special meeting of the Maori Hill Borough Council, held on Wednesday evening, was attended by the Mayor (Mr G. Mitchell), Councillors Aaskoy, Brent, Booth, Eastwood, Hitchcock, Long, Lawson> Randall, Rossbotham, Smith.

The balance sheets for the year ending 31st March last, were read and approved, and the mayor was authorised to sign same. At the end of the financial year North Ward had a debit balance of £102 13s 9d ; South V\ arcl, a credit balance of £150 10s ; West Ward, a credit balance of £62 7s 5d ; East Ward, a debit balance of £102 13s lOd. The total receipts for the year were £1271 4s Sd • the expenditure, 1070 4s 2d. The overdraft had been cleared off, and the council has now a credit balance of £30 9s lOd. The ordinary meeting was then held. COIUtESfONDESCE. Mrs T. Fraser requested that improvement be eflected on the road near her property at Lo.th \ alley Inferred to the inspector. Received. The Secretary of the Dunedin Benevolent Dramatic Club requested the patronage of the council at the entertainment to bo °ivcn in aid of the Industrial school. Received. Mr A. Hogg asked the council to reconsider his apphcation for some compensation for Ins having banked up the Loith stream in order to prevent its overflowing. Granted OTJIKII III.TSINESS. A committee was appointed to consider the advisability of amending bye-law .No. 3, referring to separate ward accounts. It was agreed.—" Tlvut a general rate of one shilling in the pound be levied on nil rateable property for the incoming year to be made payable on the 31st"May, ]i-86."
