THE EASTER ENCAMPMENT AT OAMARU.
(Pee United Pbess Association.)
Oamahu, April 19. The arrangements for carrying out the Volunteer review are in course of completion. Captain Anderson, who has been here during the last few days, has been engaged in laying off the camp, and 300 tents have been pitched. The arrangements, which are of course in the hands of experienced military men, will be as complete as it is possible to make them. About 2500 Volunteers are expected here, the majority arriving on Friday morning. The camp is pitched on the racecourse, about three miles out of Oamaru, but is only a short distance from the railway. Colonel Whitmore is expected here to-morrow. A grand naval attack on the town takes place on Saturday under thedirection f of Admiral Scott. A number of steamers will.take part in the demonstration, which will be on a larger.scale than anything of the kind previously held in the Colony. The Hiuemoa, Ellen Ballance, Koputai, Hawea, and probably two other steamers will take part, besides the torpedo-boats. At a meeting to-night it was decided to postpone the regatta till May 24.
