THE CHIMBORAZO QUARANTINED, Melbourne, April 19.
(Received April 19, at 1.15 p.m.)
The Chimborazo has arrived here from Adelaide, and been placed in quarantine for 14 days. The smallpox has not spread beyond the one patient who was landed at Adelaide. The ship's doctor reports that all the other passengers are in good health.

The Messageries Maritimes s.s. Oceanic arrived this afternoon with English mails of March 8.
FATAL EXPLOSION AT LITHGOW COAL-PIT.
Sydney, April 19,
(Received April 20, at 1 a.m.)
Telegrams from Lithgow announce that a disastrous explosion occurred this afternoon at the Lithgow Colliery Company's pit, which took fire a short time ago. At the time of the explosion 10 men were in the workings, and five were killed. The others were rescued alive.
