Auckland, April 10.

The body of Johanna Binning, wife of a slaughterman, was found floating in the harbour this morning. She has been in a desponding state of mind for some days, the cause being the arrest for theft of an adopted daughter. Last night she threatened to drown herself. At the inquest a verdict of " Found drowned " was returned. The body was without any marks of violence.

John Doyle, who died suddenly at New North road, is supposed to have been poisoned. Mr Thompson, M.H.R., addressed City North electors to-night. He said that on a vote of want of confidence he would vote against the Ministry as at present constituted, though he highly admired some of its members. He admired Sir George Grey, but would not blindly follow him. He was a Freetrader, in favour of a ls'.nd and income tax, and against the property tux. A vote of thanks and confidence was accorded.

James Oscar Walshe, the husband of Mrs Walshe, who was arrested on a charge of absconding from her creditors in Blenheim, has been apprehended on a similar charge, and admitted to bail.

The house of Mr M'Carraehie, near Papakura, has been burned down. The dwelling was insured for £100, and the furniture for £50 in the New Zealand Company. Mr Samuel Morrin, an old Auckland resident, is dead.

Thames, April 16. Colonel Fraser, M.H.R. for the Thames, addressed his constituents this evening, He

expressed himself in favour of a loan of li million during the present year ; also in favour of Sir George Grey's bill for the reappropriation of the laud a« an experiment. He generally supported the Government. A vote of thanks and confidence was uuanimousl) carried.

On the conclusion of the criminal business the divorce and civil cases for juries were not ready. Judge Gillies, in adjourning the Court to meet the convenience of solicitors, hud great stress on thrt fact that while it was said that the Bunch of Judges was inadequate to cope with the business, delays like, these were caused by solicitors, who should be ready with their cases the first day of the session.

Messrs May and Henderson, two gentlemen who have had considerable experience in fishcuriui.; in the uorth of Auckland, have arrived in Wellington, and had an interview with Sir J. Vogel. As the Stella is about to pay a visit to Jackson's Bay, these gentlemen will take a trip in her to see what opening there is there for establishing a fishing industry. They have brought with them a* complete plant for establishing a fish-curing establishment.

Tapaniti, April 10. Two well-known Dunedin men were caught poaching deer on Brooksdale Estate yesterday. They had killed a stag. The ranger is ptosecuting them for illegal trespass in pursuit of game.

The Osimaru Harbour Board to-day decided to over the Tiniaru Harbour Board a half share in their dredge for £8000, and a Committee was appointed to arrange the details of partnership. Captain Anderson, of the Armed Constabulary, arrived in Oamaru to-day to conduct the arrangements for the Volunteer encampment, and 20 A.O. will come next week to prepare the camp.
