Wellington, July 14, 1885. 20jy MAIL STEAM SERVICE Between Auckland and San Francisco via Honolulu, with a Branch Service between Auckland and an Australian Port. SEALED TENDERS will be received at the General Poet Office, Wellington, New Zealand, until MONDAY, the 7th September proximo, for the Conveyance ot Mails once every four weeks each way between Sau Fianclseo and A'uokland via Honolulu, with a Branch Service, by other than the main boats, ig and from an Australian port, fora term of three years, in accordance with the printed particulars and conditions of contract. The service to commence trom San Francisco on or about the 18th of November next, and fronv Aucklandon or about the loth of Ilecember following, and from an Australian port oh such a date as may be fixed by the Postmaster-general. ' * The iervice between San Francisco and Auckland may be performed by not Ics6 than two steamers. The time from San Francisco to Auckland, and from' Auckland to San Francisco repectively, not to exceed 18 days, or 432 hours. Separate tenders for a service in 19 days, or 456 hours, may also bo sent in. Premiums for tho early delivery of the mails to be at.the rate of £5 an hour, and penalties for late arrival £4 an hour. All receipts and payments from the Imperial Post-office, the Australian Colonies, Fiji, Samoa, and any other of, the Polynesian Islands, except the Hawai.im Islands,; to be retained by the Postmastergeneral of New Zealand. All contributions from the' United States and the Hawaiian Islands to belenfc to the contractors. The names of the steamships to be employed in the service between Auckland and San Francisco, and in the branch service, to be given in the tender. The steamers to be employed betweon San Francisco and Auckland must be not less than 2500 tons i register, and be equal to Class -100 Al, Lloyd's register. The steamers will be subject to the approval of the Postmaster-general.
