CITY POLICE COURT.

Wednesday, May 27. (Before Messrs J, Logan, W. Hutchison, and J. Elmer, Justices.) Drunkenness,—Six offenders were convicted and fined. Larobni as a Bailee.—Robert Goodisou waa oharged on tho information of John Flaisted for that on 23rd May, 1885, being the bailee of three horses, he did steal the same.—Mr Fraser appeared for proaeoutor, and Mr M'Keay tot' accused. The latter ap- , plied! for a remand till Friday netft.—Mr Fraser said he must aßk for substantial bail,' A reward bad been offered by prosecutor before taking these proceedings for any information as to the whereabouts,of the horses, but they had evidently been planted.—Mr M'Keay said that if the Bench 'desired it the horses would be produced without delay.—Mr Fraser said that accused waa one of a party of thieves' living on the Flat.—Mr M'Keay protested: against these statements. , There bad been no. larceny; the case simply arose out of a contract' for the' sale of the noraes.—The case waa adjourned till Friday; bail being allowed in accused's own .recognisance of £80 and two sureties of £40 each. » «„ ... Aboslve Language—Mary Williams was charged with- having used abusive language towards Mary Douglas, at Gaveraham, on the 13th mat. Mr Gallaway for complainant, and Mr Mouat for defendant,—Henry Williams, husband of the! person asctrsed, was charged with a similar offence on the same date.—After hearing evidence, the Beach con vioted the accused, each being 5a and coats, amounting in all to £2 03 Sd; in default, four days' imprisonment in the first case, and two days' imprisonment in the second,
